However, the same muscle groups are exercised in both pilates and the trainings are based on the basic principles of pilates: breath, concentration, centering, control, precision, and fluency.

Shoulder supports, foot bars and springs on the reformer pilates aim to provide more secure control. In reformer pilates, the mechanisms support the body and keep the posture at the best possible level. Thus, maximum benefit is obtained from the exercises.

There are three different types of mechanisms in reformer pilates. These are reformers, cadillac, and trapeze. It is aimed to ensure the integrity of the body and mind in a short time by applying resistance and force with the springs on this mechanism.

Making exercises with a trainer is safer and more controlled. If the body is not strong enough yet and body control is at the beginning level, it is possible to prevent disability. For this reason, this type of pilates is preferred more than matwork pilates. It is more controlled and safe for people with such disabilities or disorders, especially if there are pain and disability in various parts of the body, such as hernia, calcification of the knees.
