Your Gmail account name is the name that appears when you send an email from your Gmail account, and by default, it is now also linked to your Google account. You previously created a Gmail account and did not enter your own name somehow. However, today you now want to include your first and last name in the e-mail you send. There is no need to open a new account for this. It is possible to change the name that appears in the emails you send in a few simple steps.

Change the name on your Gmail account by computer
1. Log in to your Gmail account
The first thing you need to do is log in to Gmail with your email address and password. Once logged in, click the small settings icon that appears in the upper right corner of the screen, just below the screen image. A drop-down menu opens and you should click “Settings“.
2. Go to “Accounts and Import” section
When you see the Gmail general settings screen, you’ll need to select the “Accounts and Import” tab from the menu on the top of the page. In addition to changing your Gmail username, this tab allows you to change many other aspects of your Gmail account and customize your email settings.
3. Choose which Gmail account you want to rename
If you have more than one account, you’ll need to choose which one you want to change. The accounts you have are displayed to the right of the place that “Send mail as”. After that, click “Edit info” for the option that will allow you to change your username.
4. Change your name and save
A new window will open where you can change the personal information that appears next to your Gmail address. You can then change and select your preferred name from this page. Once you’ve done this, click “Save Changes” to enable the name change.
On the “Accounts and Import” tab, you’ll see that it now shows the Gmail username you’ve selected. If you need to change your name or the other information again, you can follow this step as many times as you want. To return to your email inbox, simply click Inbox in the menu on the left side of the screen, and the list of emails will reappear.
Change the name on your Gmail account by smartphones
1. Log in to your Gmail account
Click the Gmail application icon with a red letter “M” on a white background. If you’re not logged in to Gmail, you’ll need to log in to your account by entering your email and password.
2. Access the “Setting” screen
The menu icon is located in the upper left corner of the screen and has 3 lines in a row. When clicked, a pop-up menu will appear. Scroll down the screen, press “Settings”, chose the account of the email address in which you want to change the name and pass the other screen.
3. Manage Your Google Account
On this screen click “Manage Your Google Account” and on the other screen click the “Personal Info” tab. You will see your name on this page.
4. Change your name
Click on your name and on the other page you can change your name by clicking the edit sign, pencil-shaped icon. After changing your name, click “Done” button.
Can I change my email address?
If you want to change your e-mail address, not your name, unfortunately, you need to open a new account. Because Google doesn’t allow you to change your email address. However, after signing up for a new address, you can transfer your emails and contacts from your previous address to the new one.
